GTW Developments Ltd - New company, new ideas.

105 Series

For over a decade, the 101 Series of splicers has been an industry-leading product for the splicing of carpet yarns.   Its patented splicing chamber technology enables it to splice an astonishingly wide range of yarns without the need to change chambers.

Feedback from customers has led GTW Developments to review the design of the 101, in order to improve its user-appeal, without compromising the performance.   Elements of the new Model 113 - a splicer designed for the composites market - have been combined with elements of  the Model 101, to produce the 105, a completely new splicer for the carpet business.  Like the Model 101, the splicers in the 105 series are very simple tools, with a very strong construction.   Also like the Model 101, the 105 Series splicers have some new features which make them unusually powerful, and economical in use.

The design brief for the Model 105 was to match the splicing performance of the Model 101, while allowing the customer to specify the overall format of the splicer, by choosing from a range of handle types.   So, although developed as a very compact splicer, the Model 105 can be supplied with a full-length handle, so that functionally it becomes identical to the existing Model 101.

The performance of splicers in the 105 Series is identical to that of their 101 counterparts.   However, they differ from the 101s in having a modular construction, so that it is easy for the user to specify a model to suit his needs - long-handled for everyday use, short-handled for confined spaces, ultra-compact for fitting to a machine or a carriage rail.   Conversion from one form to another takes about a minute.

Model shown is 105 HW, 100 mm handle.   This splicer is designed to be hung from a hanging clip on a machine, when not in use.   The wedge-shaped hanging assembly can be seen at the rear of the splicer.

All 105 splicers are easy to maintain;  the splicer in its basic form can be completely dismantled and reassembled even more quickly than the 101.

The splicers contain the same new and patented technology as the 101, needing a smaller range of splicing chambers than splicers of earlier generations.    Unlike its competitors, the splicer can join S-twist or Z-twist yarns without any modification; it can even splice S-twist and Z-twist together, or can splice flat yarn to high-twist such as tyre cord.

105 splicers have a simple straight-line string-up.

105 Series splicers are available in six forms:
